Heather as a
In fall of 2020, Heather spearheaded a movement with parents and children of our district which led to a peaceful protest by not only children and coaches of OJR, but of surrounding schools. These included ChesMont and Central Leagues schools. The Chester -Delaware County Guidelines for Youth Sports needed to be changed to allow school athletics to move forward, and the group was sucessful. This also brought media attention to two of the Title I Schools in the PAC, Pottstown and Norristown, that were not playing at all. Pottstown was able to compete as a result.
Heather rallied for public comment on the School Board Zoom meetings at the very onset of the Covid shutdown.
“The community has a right to public comment under the Open Meetings Act. This had to be figured out right away. This was a time that no one was prepared for. We had no idea how to respond in a pandemic. I always keep the community in mind in my decision-making process.”, -Heather McCreary
